The Central Region stretches from Hawke’s Bay in the North to Wellington in the South and Whanganui in the West. The Central Region encompasses the lower portion of the North Island and while the overall regional population is relatively small, the geographic area of the region is significant. The region includes a variety of geographically different areas and a diverse population. Six district health boards provide healthcare and workforce programmes in the Central Region:
